Seeking services at the Child & Adolescent Treatment Center of Seattle (CATS):

The process of receiving services at the CATS begins with a brief phone call to our office staff who will provide information about the center, including our fees, and answer questions you have about our services. They will ask you some brief questions to get an initial impression of whether we might be of help with the problems you are experiencing. If it appears that we might be of help, an initial assessment appointment will be set with one of our therapists and you will be sent an information packet. You will be asked to complete some questionnaires in the packet before attending your assessment appointment and to bring that information with you to the appointment. It is helpful to arrive early so the therapist can review the information before meeting with you. You can also mail or fax the information to us prior to your appointment. If you are seeking services for your child, you can fill out the information for them or with them, or ask them to complete some of it on their own, depending on your child's age and interest.

The assessment appointment is intended to help us get a detailed understanding of the difficulties you and/or your family have been experiencing and to provide you with information about the treatment approaches that might be effective for improving these difficulties. If, after your assessment appointment, you decide you would like to seek treatment services at our center, you will be scheduled for an initial treatment session with a therapist. Sometimes it makes the most sense to schedule a parent consultation before we see the child, and sometimes it is more effective to see the entire family together, or to meet with a child and parents separately at the same appointment. CATS coordinators will work with you and your family to determine the best fit for you and your child
